Lake Mburo National Game Park is situated in western Uganda along the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara highway. If you have a keen interest in witnessing Africa’s diverse herbivorous wildlife in their natural habitat, this park is an ideal destination. Encounter magnificent creatures such as eland, antelope, zebras, and waterbucks in this picturesque setting.

The park boasts stunning landscapes characterized by rolling hills and expansive grass valleys, complemented by dense thickets, woodlands, and thriving wetlands. Lake Mburo offers a unique opportunity to observe a variety of animals, including impalas, waterbucks, cape buffalos, oribis, hyenas, topis, reedbucks, leopards, and zebras.

Birding watching in Lake Mburo National Park is mainly in areas like the swampy valleys of Warukiri and Miriti, and the roadsides between Rwonyo camp and the jetty. There are also ideally-situated viewing platforms at the salt lick, in Miriti Valley, and in Rubanga Forest. Species observed at these locations include the Rufous-bellied Heron, Bateleur, Coqui Francolin, Grey Crowned Crane, Black-bellied Bustard, Brown-chested Lapwing, Emerald-spotted Wood-Dove, Brown Parrot, Red-headed Lovebird, Ross’s Turaco, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Green Wood-hoopoe, Common Scimitarbill, White-headed Barbet, Red-faced Barbet, Nubian Woodpecker, Red-shouldered Cuckoo-shrike, Long-tailed Cisticola, Yellow-breasted Apalis, White-winged Tit and Finfoot among others.
Rubanga Forest can be visited using a vehicle or on foot. This is a real draw for keen birders, and prior arrangement should be made with the warden. The rare Red-faced Barbet – only seen in Lake Mburo National Park – is one of the of the forest’s featured species

DAY 1: Morning Drive Mbarara-Masaka Road

Early morning pick up from your hotel after breakfast. Head for Mbarara through Masaka along Masaka road. Just this journey has a lot for you to see and you stop along the way to witness some of the largest banana plantation farms. You will also make stops at Mpambire to see the Royal Drum Makers at their craft. You will be taken to the pint where the northern and southern hemispheres of the world separate with each other. Stand over the equator line take photographs. You will arrive in Mbarara for lunch. Head for Lake Mburo National Park. Uganda Safari You will get to see wild animals grazing side by side with domestic cattle. You will enter the park through the Nshara gate. You will take an afternoon boat trip on Lake Mburo itself. Retire for the evening.

DAY 2: Game Drive for wildlife and scenery viewing

Early morning regroup at the lodge. Prepare to take an early morning game drive through the national park with your guides on spacious 4 wheel drive vehicles. You will return to the lodge to have breakfast and then go back for more adventure. You will take another game drive or walk under the escort of a game ranger after your breakfast. DAY 3: Community tour and Back to Kampala

Early morning regroup at the lodge. Briefing by the guides before an early morning departure to Biharwe. Prepare to go Bicycle cycling through the park. There are no large hills to climb. You cross some marshy low-lying areas, skirting larger hills through small villages and smallholdings. Return to the camp. Depart for Kampala. Arrive late Evening. Retire to your hotel
