This 2 day Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari, starting and ending in Kigali, Rwanda, is a quick but thrilling journey designed for travelers with limited time. Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Arrive at Kigali International Airport in the morning, where you’ll be welcomed by our Gorilla Safaris Uganda guide/driver for a briefing on the trip ahead.

Enjoy breakfast at a local hotel or restaurant before setting out for an optional Kigali City Tour. You can visit key sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial or Kimironko Market for a glimpse into Rwandan culture.

Around 10:00 AM, depart Kigali for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, crossing the border at Kyanika or Katuna. The scenic drive takes about 4-5 hours, offering picturesque views of the Rwandan and Ugandan countryside.

After completing border formalities, continue toward Bwindi with a lunch stop in Kisoro, a local Ugandan town.

Arrive at your lodge in the Buhoma or Ruhija sector, check-in, and relax amidst the stunning forest views. If time permits, consider a community walk to visit the local Batwa pygmies or enjoy a nature walk.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Return to Kigali

Have your breakfast at the Lodge early in the morning around 6:00 AM to prepare for the trek.

Head to the park headquarters by 7:30 AM for a pre-trek briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. They will explain the rules, assign you to a gorilla family, and provide safety guidelines, Begin the Gorilla Trekking Adventure at around 8:00 AM. Depending on the location of the gorilla family, the trek can last between 2 to 6 hours. You’ll navigate through thick forests, steep terrain, and sometimes muddy trails. Once you find the gorillas, spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat. Rangers will guide you on how to interact and photograph them.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and a brief rest. Freshen up and pack for your journey back to Kigali.

Depart from Bwindi and begin your journey back to Kigali in Rwanda through the same border point. The return drive takes around 4-5 hours depending on border crossing times.

Arrive at Kigali international airport for your departure flight. If time allows, you can do some light shopping for Rwandan crafts or coffee before leaving and end of Tour.
