Accommodation and hotels in Uganda
Hotels or accommodation in Uganda are classified according to stars following European standards Initially each country graded it hotel standards by their own ways and there was no international standards were being followed, not until 2009 when the East Africa Community criteria, was agreed between the member countries, and that is Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to classify their hotels,lodges, restaurants and others in that category.
Uniform classification and single tourist visa have uplifted the hotel standards and high increase inflows into the region.
In East Africa Uganda in particular we have different hotel grades, and these are 5 tars, and that’s only Serena Hotel Kampala, 4 stars and that’s Sheraton Hotel Kampala, Pro tea Hotel and others, 3 star like metro pol hotel and many more.
Hotels in Uganda they are under one umbrella, hotel owners association, and regulated by the Uganda Tourism board that report directly to the ministry of Trade,Industries,wildlife and antiquities.
In Uganda lodges are based in the wildlife protected areas mostly the national parks, like Bwindi impenetrable forested national park, we have lodges like the gorilla safari lodge, Nkuringo gorilla lodge, Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs Lodge,Engagi Lodge,Silverback Lodge ,Lake KitandaraCamp,Ruhija, gorilla safari lodgeBuhoma Community Restcamp and many more.
