Domestic Airlines & Flights in Uganda
The Domestic airlines like Aerolink runs scheduled domestic flights to several parks or nearby gateway towns. Fly Uganda recently resumed flights to Kihihi which is part of the Bwindi and Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth and intends to extend their network of flights in 2019. Alternatively, your tour operator can organize charter flights at affordable prices. The only destination in Uganda that is more often reached by air than by road is the remote Kidepo Valley National Park which is found in the north eastern part of Uganda in the Karamoja region.
Entebbe Airport is the only international Airport in Uganda though there is a new airport being built in Kabale district. Uganda is a relatively compact country and further transportation within the country is usually done by vehicle, though more up market safaris increasingly tend to include one or more flights. The airport is the only link to other airfields around the country which can be reached by scheduled flights like:
- Adjumani airfield
- Arua airfield
- Gulu airfield
- Kitgum airfield
- Moyo airfield
Arua, Gulu and other airfields in Kasese, Kidepo and Pakuba have permission to transact international flights. Therefore flights from other countries are allowed here.
There are some more airports inside Uganda for domestic flights: Jinja, Kisoro, Lira, Masindi, Mbarara, Moroto, Soroti and Tororo. Ugandan air companies and charter flights use these airports regularly i.e Aerolink, Bukasa Air Service, Kampala Aeroclub or West Nile Air airline companies.
