Kashasha River Trail in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is ranked among the best destinations in the world in terms of hiking experiences; Bwindi National Park is exceptionally a hiker’s paradise. A hike through this park takes you via a number of its trails each of which rewards you with amazing encounters of varied natural wonders including primates, birds and floral species. The available trails to hike through in this park include Munyanga waterfall which takes you from Buhoma area via River Ivi, Muzubijiro loop, Ivi River walk, Rusizi River trail, Kashasha River trail, Rushura trail, Habinyanja, bamboo trail and Buhoma Nkuringo trail to mention by a few.
This trail takes 6-7 hours and is slightly more challenging than the Ivy River Trail, Kashasha River Trail (17 kilometers), offers visitors an up close experience of the natural wonders within the Bwindi rainforest environment. The trail involves steeper inclines most especially if you take the Buhoma to Nkuringo route. Its 600m up at the end of the trail and the guides will point out the wildlife as well as the birds, flowers, plants, trees and the ferns. The trail has got stunning views and to go from Buhoma to Nkuringo takes 7 hours but it’s much shorter taking the Kashasha river trail which takes 5 hours in length and its difficulty level is moderate and more scenic especially the different bird species, plants and flowers.
