Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Permits are Discounted 2020
The price for Gorilla tracking permits Rwanda are discounted 2020 and any visitors especially tourists visiting Rwanda between June to December will enjoy the discounted gorilla tracking permits that had been previously highly-priced because Rwanda Development Board announced that it is slicing permit prices for the Mountain Gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park situated just two hours from Kigali city and the Kigali international airport.
The Rwanda Development Board announced the re-opening of tourism activities effective 17 June 2020 as well as the resumption of international travel for charter flights.
Under the new prices under revision Rwandans and nationals of East African member states resident in Rwanda will only pay $200, foreign residents will only pay $500 to obtain a permit while International tourists will still pay $1500 to access the Mountain gorilla habitat.
The $500 cost of the gorilla permit in Rwanda for foreign residents is now even less than what it costs in Uganda where the permit now costs $700. Overtime, Rwanda has successfully positioned itself as the leading destination for luxury Gorilla trekking experiences in Africa and these price reductions come as an incentive to jump-start tourism in Rwanda
On 17th June, 2020, Rwanda reopened its national parks to tourism after three months of lock-down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and with that, came the overwhelming news of very significant discounts in the price of Gorilla permits for the year 2020.
With only 10 habituated gorilla families available for visiting, the number of visitors who can go gorilla trekking on a single gorilla group is limited to 8 people per day, therefore, there is a total number of 80 gorilla permits available a day.
Between June to September dry season the park receives big numbers of visitors and its more favorable to go hiking without a slippery terrain and too much mud.
Travel agencies or tour operators in Rwanda is the most reliable option of obtaining or booking a gorilla permit. Anyone applying for a gorilla viewing permit must be 15 years and above.
These discounted permits will only last until 31st December, 2020 after which, the price will return to the previous $1500 for each permit for everyone taking part in Gorilla trekking.
The Rwanda Development Board announcement comes at a time Rwanda is working round the clock to revive an economy battered by the global Covid-19 pandemic that has knocked down economies in Africa and the world.
How to Book your discounted Rwanda Gorilla Permits and take part in Gorilla Trekking
- A) Any one going to take part in gorilla trekking must be aged 15 years and above.
- B) All international travelers MUST test negative for Covid-19 72 hours before departure and will undergo another test upon arrival in the country.
- C) All participants MUST test negative 48 hours before the tracking date.
- D) Anyone with high temperatures and other signs of sickness including flue and cough will not be allowed to take part in Gorilla trekking to minimize risk to the mountain Gorillas.
- E) The above mentioned criteria’s must be observed alongside the regular do’s and don’ts of Gorilla trekking as will be communicated on the day of the trek.
- F) Commercial flights to Rwanda resumed on 1st August 2020 hence one can plan their visit to Rwanda.
